Hi. My name is Marcia. I am honoured to be the yogi of the month. I am writing this just days before my 55th birthday. I have a lot to be thankful for.

I have been happily married for almost 28 years to my husband Robert. We have 2 beautiful children, Colin 19, and Jennifer, almost 17.

I have a very busy life looking after family members with special needs, including myself. For most of my life, I have been dealing with bipolar disorder, anorexia nervosa, and post traumatic stress disorder. Robert and I take the time to support each other with our own issues. Our son Colin, is on the Autism Spectrum and since his birth, I have devoted my time to helping him become the best he can be. Our daughter Jennifer, struggles with anxiety. From my own experiences, I have been able to help her a lot too.

So where does this leave me? Worn out, with a very limited life outside the home. That is where Zenergy Yoga comes in. Last November, I thought a lot about practicing yoga, especially after I had had many experimental treatment sessions for my mental illnesses, called Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation or rTMS. It is a brain stimulation done with magnetic energy. The end result is the strengthening of neural pathways which can result in a lessening of psychiatric symptoms. It worked for me and I was told that meditative practices would help keep these neural pathways strong.

At Zenergy Yoga, I find that the whole practice is like a flowing meditation. The focus on the breath and the movements prepares me for a wonderful experience towards the end of the class called savasana. During this special time, we lie on our yoga mats and meditate. This is the time where I feel really connected with others, myself, and something greater out there than me. I feel at peace, and I feel strengthened to deal with everything I have to deal with.

At Zenergy Yoga, we are all encouraged to go at our own pace. It is not a competition. It is not the gym. The instructors are always helping class members get the most out of their practice by aiding those who need it. I am grateful for assistance when I am having difficulty with a new yoga position. I have always struggled with living my life in the moment, but since I have been practicing yoga at Zenergy Yoga, I have been getting better at it.

Remember, our lives are made up of a long series of individual moments. Make the most of each moment. And practice yoga at Zenergy Yoga!

Love to you all,

Marcia
